I can't believe the 2014 season is already here. Our season hasn't started yet like last year. Our 1st event will be Great Witchingham on the 23rd March. I'm very excited to also be taking Barbie along to do the BE80 as well as Sky in the BE100.
I'm sorry I haven't posted all winter but its been fairly quiet for us till now. Barbie & I have enjoyed a full seasons hunting with the Belvoir. I'm sad this is our last week of the season, but I'm also ready to crack on with our eventing. Barbie went to her 1st showjumping competition in Febuary. Where she behaved like a total star and got a lovely double clear and 2nd in the 75cm.
Sky's first outing of the year was to some local dressage, as expected it was very much a stressage competition. I'm not sure how we managed a better score in our 2nd test as it felt worse, I chose to finish the test in sitting trot so I could hold her together better. She then also joined Barbie out showjumping. This was Skys 1st showjumping round since Oasby. She did a lovely double clear in the 85cm for 2nd place. Sadly we had a fence down in the 95cm however I can't complain after not seeing a fence for so long.
Next stop was x-country schooling for both horses. Barbie has never been x-country training before unless we count hunting. She was very babyish to start and had a few iffy jumps. Once she settled and I allowed her to go more forwards she started to really enjoy her self and jumped a lot better. Sky however was not the star pupil, she nearly ditched me several times and decided to call it a day. Sky will be having a jump at home this weekend and hopefully several more before Great Witchingham. I have arranged dressage lessons for both horses before their 1st events and to my surprise I'm looking forward to them. I haven't had a flatwork lesson for over a year now so look forward to seeing what our instructor thinks to both ponies.
