Here is a review of 2014 for us. It was a year of mixed emotions amazing highs to the lowest lows. Barbie finished the hunting season in March then went to her first BE80 at Great Witchingham, Sadly she dumped me half way round the x country but we did eventually complete. Sky went along for the BE100 and of course did a super but slow clear xc as she was a tad fresh and wild, as she had already shown earlier in the dressage with some freestyle movements. The following week, Sky had our first taste of team chasing. I was more than grateful I had chosen to take her when I realised we had been entered in the Intermediate class. She led the whole way round giving me a fab ride and adrenalin rush. Sadly we had a break from events as something was right with Sky, however she came back gave me a great ride at Aston Le Walls getting our first BE placing. Prestwold was meant to be our step back up to Novice but it didn't quite go to plan and I withdrew after the stressage. I was adamant I was going to sell her, however 2015 she is still at home and we have joined the world of showjumping. We had a very successful first BS outing winning our very first class and coming 5th in the second. We had a couple more double clears along the way in limited outings.
Barbie also went to Shelford and Carlton BE80's although neither look great on paper. We loved it and I hope she may still do the odd event this year as I still miss the eventing scene. She joined Sky on one of our BS trips to jump a British Novice class on a trip and proved me completely wrong by jumping a fab round just taking the last fence in the jump off section. However winter has arrived, schooling has gone out the window and we are hunting mad. She is great fun I can't fault her galloping across the countryside. We did miss one week as I was concerned about one of her legs so I dug out my big girl pants and took the grey beast. We hacked to the meet to take her edge of her and she was fab. The only problem I have to be next to the field master all the time not that I mind, its the best place to be.
I can't forget the fact we bought a new cob, Harry for my mum who I have fallen in love with. Who knows he may be out eventing this year if I get my way.
I'm very much still in hunting mode with Barbie. Although Sky will start going out competing very soon as I hope to go to Blue Chip and Scope with her this year. Barbie will do the odd BE and some BS but generally have an easier time through summer. Annabel turns 3 this year so I hope to back her in the summer before turning her away for winter. Lots to look forward to and I can't wait!
